Truck parking in Atoka: why we built a lot where US-69 meets US-75

Drivers spend hours of their day hunting for somewhere legal and safe to stop. What the parking shortage looks like, what the hours-of-service clock forces, and what our lot offers.

If you drive for a living you already know this, but the numbers are still worth saying out loud. When the federal government surveyed drivers for its Jason's Law truck parking study, more than 75 percent said they regularly struggle to find safe, legal parking. At night it was 90 percent.

Nationally, there's roughly one truck parking space for every 11 truck drivers. That gap doesn't close by itself. It's why you see trucks lined up on ramps and shoulders after dark.

The clock doesn't wait for a spot

Hours-of-service rules don't care whether there's a space at the next exit. You get 11 hours of driving inside a 14-hour window, and you need a 30-minute break after 8 hours behind the wheel. When the clock runs out, you stop.

So drivers start looking early. Every hour you spend circling for a spot, or stopping two hours short because you can't count on finding one later, is an hour you're not getting paid for.

Atoka is a natural place to stop

Atoka sits where US-69 and US-75 come together. Northbound out of Dallas, it's the last stretch before US-69 splits off toward McAlester and Muskogee. Southbound, it's a clean run to Durant and the Red River. A lot of freight moves through here, and the two big truck stops on the south end of town have about a hundred truck spaces between them.

Secure parking matters more every year

Cargo theft is not a small-town problem anymore. CargoNet recorded 2,646 confirmed cargo thefts across the US and Canada in 2025, an 18 percent jump from 2024, with estimated losses of nearly $725 million. Thieves go after trailers that sit somewhere quiet and unwatched.

Parking next to a working shop, with people around all day, isn't a guarantee. It beats a dark shoulder by a mile.

What our lot offers

We built our yard for semis, trailers, RVs and regular vehicles. Parking is simple:

Term Price
Daily $25
Weekly $100
Monthly $350

Monthly is the best deal if you live in the area and need somewhere to keep your rig between runs, or if you're an owner-operator who doesn't want your truck sitting in a driveway.

And because the lot sits right next to our shop, a parked truck can get its tires checked, its batteries tested or a light fixed without you having to schedule a separate trip. Drop it off after hours and we'll look at it first thing.

See parking details or call to reserve a monthly spot.
